How to find the right candidate In Facilities Management

The reality is that Facilities management is one of the most demanding industries that there is. A person who is in facilities management is responsible for many aspects of making sure that the facilities run as they should, which includes having a very broad background in management. There are various skills that a person should possess to be successful in facilities management, which makes finding the right candidate very difficult.

Generally if a company is to recruit themselves, when a position becomes available, an advert needs to be placed. This can be in the local paper, online, or both. From there, job seekers will submit their CV and then it is the responsibility of the HR department to go through all the CV’s to find out who’s qualified to perform the job and who’s not.

The problem is that the unemployment rate is rising rapidly. More people are looking for a quality job, which means there could be thousands of applicants for a single position. This turns into a very time consuming project, which could be very dangerous if the position needs to be filled right away. Often this means that the position is filled quickly, regardless of whether the person was truly the best applicant or not.

When any company in facilities management needs to fill a position, it’s best to turn to a facilities management recruitment firm. A specialised and experienced recruiter will be able to secure the perfect match based upon their industry knowledge, connections, analysis as well as their internal job postings. The piles of CV’s therefore become someone else’s headache and a company can then focus on only hiring the right person for the job.

The good candidates are presented to the company after the recruitment firm has already gathered up the applicants via a mixture of advertising, headhunting and database; then having gone through CV’s, interviewed those relevant, revealed conflicts of interest and determined whether a person is capable of handling the job or not.

Upon this stage, a company will be able to interview the candidates, knowing that all of them are capable of doing the job and the cream of the crop can be selected. This is a less time consuming process and it yields a better quality candidate which will result in a stronger hire that will stay in the job longer and do the job that they were hired to do effectively.

Companies don’t have to find good candidates on their own. There are great facilities management recruiters, such as Maxwell Stephens who knows the industry inside and out. Using this knowledge and this expertise to a company’s benefit can be the best way to save money and get a great candidate. Otherwise, a candidate could simply be chosen because they were in the right place at the right time, which is never the best thing for a company.
