Facilities Management Recruitment Is Anything But Easy

Facilities management recruitment is a task that very few human resources departments around the globe look forward to. The reason is because it’s a time consuming process that can result in more headaches than results. Jobs shouldn’t be hard to fill, yet because of the state of the economy and the demanding responsibilities of FM jobs, they are extremely hard to fill.

Companies need to know what they’re getting themselves into when it comes to facilities management recruitment. Hiring a single person means posting a job opening in the paper, online, or both. Then it’s about going through hundreds of CVs to line up about a dozen to talk to. Of those dozen, they must go through background checks, have references checked out and details verified.

The interview is filled with questions that will provoke thought from the candidates. Questions such as ‘what would you do in a situation such as…’ and ‘describe the last time that you were in a certain situation where…’

Dedicating the time to conduct these interviews is the farthest thing from most companies’ minds when they are going through facilities management recruitment. Most companies are just trying to get through the interview and make a quick decision about who the best candidate is for the job…at least for the meantime.

That’s the problem. Rash decisions are being made on FM jobs in facilities management recruitment. And then companies wonder why they’re back to square one in a few short months.

Companies who specialize in facilities management recruitment can be called in. This way a company doesn’t have to endure the CV sorting process, the preliminary interviews or anything else. It’s just about making a final decision because the recruiters handled everything else.

The idea behind facilities management recruitment is to avoid making rash decisions. Rash decisions aren’t going to help anyone. They certainly aren’t going to help the company that needs the facilities manager because that person may not be the right person. They may be ill equipped for meeting the demands of the facility and processing client requests. It could result in problems with the facility and loss of a contract.

The sooner a company realizes that facilities management recruitment is difficult, the sooner they can pass the work over to a FM recruitment company to hire for the FM jobs on their behalf.

Today’s economy results in more people applying for jobs than ever before. Companies don’t have to worry about digging through thousands of applications to find the first person who will satisfy a basic need when a FM recruitment company will go through the same process to find the best candidate possible. It’s a time saving process that has a better end result.
