How to stay positive whilst searching for the right job in the Facilities Management industry.
It can be difficult to Stay positive whilst searching for an FM Job as competition for roles so fierce. Is it any wonder, in today’s facilities management job market, that candidates are facing more challenges and difficulties in finding the right job than ever before? It is apparent recruitment processes are more thorough and in-depth; after applying for roles, submitting endless CV’s, attending interviews and not securing a new role it can be very disheartening to stay optimistic. While this may well be the case for you, it is important that you create an impression of positivity and drive whilst speaking to recruiters and consultants and hiring managers.
Be Realistic and avoid disappointment; apply for roles you know you are capable of, have the right skills and experience for and fit the salary bracket. Focus on the type of role you are looking for and don’t allow yourself to get side-tracked from this. When submitting applications, make sure you meet the essential criteria and that you have experience for at least 75% of the role.
Try a different approach and review your search so far; what has gone well? What hasn’t gone well? What improvements can you make? Join Linked In and start Networking! This is an excellent way to make contacts, join forums and look at jobs advertised. Join relevant job websites and sign up for email job alerts. Maintain regular contact with your Recruitment Consultant at Maxwell Stephens and let them know you are still looking for opportunities. Follow up any applications that you make and make sure you keep track of the roles you have applied for.
Companies want to employ people who have the right attitude, start by believing in yourself and what you are capable of and don’t let being rejected for a position affect you proceeding with your job search.
