Robyn Powner
Back to Our TeamRobyn Powner is the Recruitment Consultant for leading facilities management recruitment company, Maxwell Stephens. Robyn has been with the firm since 2015 and her role within the business is to ensure the smoothest delivery of end to end recruitment support to both clients and candidates.
Having graduated from Northumbria University at Newcastle with a Human Resources Management degree in 2013, Robyn very quickly landed herself a great role as HR Assistant at the Community Campus based in Stockton upon Tees.
Within a couple of years, she joined Maxwell Stephens, originally as a resourcer – in recruitment consultancy, a resourcer is a person that finds and implements whatever information or systems are needed for the successful placement of a candidate. In September 2016, Robyn was made the company’s Senior Resourcer and Recruitment Consultant.
Robyn’s role is complicated but it gives her tremendous professional and personal satisfaction. She’s in charge of the recruitment process for client vacancies based in the UK and overseas. She considers her most useful skill to be a proven aptitude for finding, greeting, and building relationships with some of the best white-collar FM staff in the industry. Maxwell Stephens has always been known for the quality of its candidates, particularly at mid-management, senior management, and board level, and Robyn continues to play a significant role in growing and curating the company’s large database consisting of this talent.
Robyn has a forensic eye for detail, showing a real understanding for sometimes complex client job briefs. With her in-depth knowledge of the candidate database, she can create a shortlist very quickly of just the right candidates to recommend for interview. She also manages the interview and offers processes, works with candidates who were unsuccessful at interviews including providing feedback, and keeps in regular contact with candidates she’s placed.
For Robyn, the most enjoyable aspects of her work are helping candidates win their dream job and helping clients improve their businesses by providing them with the right person. For her, Maxwell Stephens’s biggest advantage over its competitors is its size – “because we’re a small company, we care much more about quality than quantity. When you fill the types of job we fill, it’s a much more involved, intimate, and managed process. You’re with them every step of the way and, to be honest, most clients and candidates aren’t used to that and they really like it”.
She sees her future firmly at Maxwell Stephens and when thinking about the five years ahead, she wants to help the company win more business, build upon its already highly-regarded reputation, and visit clients more often to further strengthen the bond between the firm and its customers.
Robyn has a love and encyclopaedic knowledge of all of the Harry Potter movies – yes, that’s all eight of them! The song she loves most in the world is “Live Forever” by Oasis and, should be find herself stranded on a desert island, the one album she’d want to be left with is “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not” by Arctic Monkeys.
