Facilities Recruitment for Specialist Law Firm Matrix Chambers

Matrix is a barristers’ chambers located in Gray’s Inn, London, Geneva and Brussels. They are a group of independent and specialist lawyers who work in a wide range of areas of law. Matrix Chambers work throughout the UK and have extensive experience internationally.

The Position

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Facilities Coordinator was required to provide assistance in ensuring that all the facilities at Matrix Chambers are running effectively and efficiently. The remit of this position was varied, with a wide range of duties and responsibilities including but not limited to: Liaising with all external facilities contractors, reviewing suppliers on a regular basis to maintain service levels and value for money, administration of all routine repair and maintenance programmes, overseeing the presentation and appearance of Matrix’s buildings, updating disaster recovery planning and documentation, maintaining telephone systems, assisting in the administrative arrangements for events and responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Facilities and Administration Assistant. The role also needed an adaptable and flexible approach, with the postholder required to be on call 24 hours and at weekends to respond to occasional urgent admin, IT and security issues when necessary.

The Candidate

In regards to necessary skills and experience for this role, there was a range of essential criteria that the ideal candidate would need to fulfil. The role required that the successful candidate has demonstrable previous administration and facilities experience with the ability to prioritise and undertake a number of tasks, managing their large workload in a busy and challenging office environment. The candidate would need to have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and have experience of resolving general IT queries. The ideal candidate would also have knowledge of Health and Safety and Fire Regulations and have experience of carrying our relevant risk assessments.
