The Institute for Government Building and Facilities Manager for the Operational Management of the Institute’s Grade II Listed Premises

The Position

The post holder would be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Institute’s Grade II listed premises, ensuring that the building fabric, services and equipment were maintained in a fit for purpose condition.

Another key responsibility was to oversee and keep under review the programme of planned preventative maintenance, ensuring that it was cost-effective and legally compliant as well as ensuring that emergency, remedial and renewal works were carried out promptly and cost-effectively.

Considering the nature of the organisation, the position required the post holder to work in conjunction with the Institute’s Events and Communications Teams to ensure on-site events were properly presented/branded and audience needs were catered for – including broadcast media and high profile speakers.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate needed to have applicable previous building/facilities management experience, preferably in a heritage building. They would need experience in specific areas of building and facilities management which include but are not limited to: experience of the production, presentation and administration of onsite events, experience of FM related health and safety legislation, experience of fire prevention and security system management and experience of dealing with multiple contractors and suppliers.

The position demanded that the ideal candidate should have demonstrable experience of budget management and financial performance reporting demonstrating the ability to provide year-on-year savings to the department including energy use and operational costs.
