A thriving co-educational independent day school in south-west London, is seeking a dedicated and professional Security Officer to join its Estates Team. This key role ensures the safety, security, and wellbeing of pupils, staff, visitors, and the wider school community.

The Security Officer will serve as the first point of contact for all visitors to the school, providing a calm, courteous, and reassuring presence while maintaining high standards of vigilance and professionalism. Responsibilities include managing visitor access, monitoring CCTV systems, locking and securing the school each evening, and ensuring car park and site safety.

This is a varied and active role that requires flexibility, a proactive mindset, and strong interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Signing in and out all visitors, ensuring compliance with the school’s safeguarding and access protocols

• Preventing unauthorised access to the school premises

• Monitoring the school’s CCTV system and responding appropriately to any incidents

• Managing the school’s car park and vehicle access control

• Ensuring secure handover of minibus paperwork and maintaining accurate visitor records

• Supporting emergency services and being part of the call-out register for intruder alarm activations

• Assisting with traffic management during pupil drop-off and collection times

• Logging and overseeing deliveries and parcels

• Supporting school events, contractor access, and daily operations

• Locking up the premises and setting alarms each night

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• SIA licence (or willingness to complete training)

• Solid knowledge of Health & Safety practices

• Good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and record-keeping systems

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Calm under pressure with strong problem-solving abilities

• Physically fit and capable of manual tasks

• A strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safety

Desirable:

• First Aid certification

• Experience in an educational or estates/security setting

• Full, clean driving licence

• Understanding of safeguarding procedures

• Customer service or conflict resolution experience
