To support this critical operation, the AELTC partnered with Maxwell Stephens to recruit a highly experienced Building & Services Manager responsible for leading the engineering and building services function across the estate.

The Challenge

The Building & Services Manager role represented one of the most technically demanding Facilities Management appointments within the UK sporting sector.

The successful candidate would assume responsibility for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical building services across one of the world's most recognised sporting venues, while preparing the estate for an event where operational failure simply is not an option.

Reporting into senior estates leadership, the role combined strategic planning with hands-on technical oversight across a complex estate incorporating world-class sporting venues, hospitality facilities, broadcast infrastructure, corporate offices and public areas.

Key responsibilities included:

  • Leading the operation and maintenance of all building engineering services across the estate.
  • Managing mechanical, electrical and public health infrastructure.
  • Overseeing HV/LV electrical networks and critical power systems.
  • Managing Building Management Systems (BMS) and life safety systems.
  • Ensuring full statutory compliance across engineering services.
  • Leading planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes.
  • Managing specialist engineering contractors and service partners.
  • Supporting capital investment and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Driving operational resilience and business continuity.
