Specialist recruitment for the people who keep buildings safe, compliant and working.
Maxwell Stephens recruits Facilities Managers for organisations that need someone to take ownership of a building, a site or a portfolio, not just manage a task list.
We have specialised in Facilities Management recruitment since 2006, with more than 50,000 FM professionals in our network across the UK and Europe.

The Facilities Manager is the person a building is judged by
When a Facilities Manager is good, nobody notices. Heating works, contractors turn up, audits pass and staff get on with their jobs.
When the appointment is wrong, the cost shows quickly: missed statutory tests, contractor overspend, unhappy occupiers and a senior team pulled into problems that should never reach them.
The role also varies more than the title suggests. One Facilities Manager runs a single head office with an in-house team. Another manages outsourced hard and soft services across several sites. A third sits between a managing agent, a landlord and the occupier.
The job title tells us very little. The building, the operating model and the people around the role tell us what is actually needed.
Facilities Manager roles we recruit
- Facilities Coordinator and Assistant Facilities Manager
- Facilities Manager
- Senior Facilities Manager
- Regional and Multi-Site Facilities Manager
- Soft Services Manager and Hard Services Manager
- Workplace and Office Services Manager
- Interim Facilities Manager
What we look at before we search
- Number, size and type of buildings
- In-house team, outsourced contracts or a mix
- Hard and soft services in scope
- Statutory compliance and health and safety responsibility
- Contractor and supplier management
- Budget ownership
- CAFM, helpdesk and reporting
- Projects, moves and changes
- Stakeholders: occupiers, landlord, managing agent, senior leadership
That lets us define the real candidate market for the role, rather than matching job titles.
What Facilities Managers earn in 2026
As a broad UK guide, Facilities Managers earn £40,000 to £65,000, and Senior Facilities Managers £60,000 to £80,000. Location, sector, scope and technical depth move the figure within those ranges. Our Facilities Management Salary Guide UK 2026 has the full picture by role.
Permanent and interim Facilities Managers
We recruit permanent Facilities Managers and, where a building cannot wait, for example during a vacancy, a relocation or a compliance recovery, we also place interim Facilities Managers who can take control from the first week.
Our recruitment process
Every assignment is shaped around the organisation and the role, and follows five stages.
01. Definition and risk framing
We agree what the appointment needs to achieve, the risks it carries and the criteria candidates will be judged on. Where the brief needs challenging, we say so before the search starts.
02. Targeted search
We map the relevant market and approach people directly, including those performing well in their current role and not applying for jobs.
03. Judgement-led assessment
We assess how candidates have handled their responsibilities, not just what those responsibilities were.
04. Verification
We test suitability against the original requirements through evidence, track record and references.
05. Decision support
We support you and the candidate through final selection, offer, resignation and start.
