Circle Health is one of the UK's leading independent healthcare providers, operating a substantial portfolio of hospitals, treatment centres and healthcare facilities. To support the continued performance and compliance of its property portfolio, Circle Health asked Maxwell Stephens to recruit an experienced Group Operations Manager to lead Property Services and Engineering Maintenance activities across multiple sites nationwide.

The Challenge

This was a senior facilities and estates management appointment. The role required someone capable of overseeing engineering operations, property services, compliance and maintenance performance across a diverse healthcare estate, and of making sure facilities operations supported patient care while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational resilience.

Key responsibilities included:

The role demanded an unusual combination of technical expertise, healthcare estates knowledge, leadership capability and stakeholder management skills. Healthcare estates are among the most demanding environments in facilities management: building systems directly affect clinical activity, regulatory scrutiny is constant, and maintenance windows have to be negotiated around patient care rather than scheduled at convenience. Candidates who have led engineering operations in that context are a distinct and relatively small group.

The Outcome

We appointed a highly experienced Group Operations Manager with an extensive background in healthcare facilities and estates management. The successful candidate integrated quickly into Circle Health's Property Services function, taking responsibility for engineering maintenance, operational performance and compliance management across the portfolio.
