Global Excellence: Pioneering Facilities Management at NGKF Across Europe

Background & Client Overview

Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF), a global provider of commercial real estate advisory and property services, appointed Maxwell Stephens to recruit two Senior Facilities Managers for key European locations in Horgen, Switzerland, and Terneuzen, the Netherlands.

Operating across an extensive international network, NGKF required experienced FM professionals capable of maintaining high standards of operational performance, compliance and client service within complex commercial environments.

The two appointments presented an additional recruitment challenge: alongside strong Facilities Management and leadership experience, each candidate needed the appropriate local-language capability and cultural awareness to operate effectively within their respective markets.

The Challenge

NGKF required two Senior Facilities Managers capable of taking ownership of complex facilities operations while maintaining consistent service standards across different European locations.

The successful candidates needed to combine strong operational FM expertise with commercial awareness, regulatory knowledge, leadership and excellent stakeholder-management skills.

Key requirements included:

Senior Facilities Management Experience
A substantial background in managing complex Facilities Management operations and maintaining high standards across buildings, services and contractors.

Operational Leadership
The ability to provide clear direction, manage competing priorities and ensure facilities services remained efficient, reliable and responsive.

Budget & Financial Management
Experience managing Facilities budgets, controlling expenditure and ensuring resources were deployed effectively.

Compliance & Risk Management
A strong understanding of relevant regulatory and operational requirements, with the ability to maintain appropriate standards across each location.

Client & Stakeholder Management
The confidence to build productive relationships with clients, employees, contractors and other stakeholders while maintaining a strong service-focused approach.

Local-Language Capability
Language skills were essential to effective communication within each market. German fluency was required for the Horgen position and Dutch fluency for the Terneuzen role.
