The FM division maintains the client’s grounds and buildings to a world-class standard. It successfully delivers on projects, large and small. In addition to supporting their current operation, you’ll be launching their new enhanced standards package as they introduce their future-facing critical systems plan. You’ll work with their current suppliers to help them achieve these improvements, providing clear direction and training enhancements. You’ll lead on the revision of planned maintenance routines, frequencies, reporting, and enhanced SLAs and KPIs.

About you

You’ll bring considerable experience to the role from working within client organisations. This will show in the quality of the specifications and tender packages you produce, and how you manage whole projects from conception right through to delivery.

You have a recognised qualification in building surveying or construction and have up-to-date IT skills (including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project).

Our client will value any experience you have working in a major public venue as they will membership of a recognised Institute and a track record of working within an FM team.

The most important part of this role

Your prime responsibility will be supporting the FM team through the delivery of Building, Civils and Engineering projects for new works and major maintenance refurbishments. You’ll manage the job requirements on all of these projects from the start through to the design, planning, delivery and the eventual handover to the FM team.

In addition, you’ll manage the appointment of specialist suppliers, consultants, architects and quantity surveyors in delivering projects making sure that budgets and programmes are successfully achieved. You’ll liaise with key personnel in the Facilities and Estates teams in understanding all client design protocols and standards.

Assisting in the preparation of the annual project review process is a major responsibility as it helps support key stakeholders in understanding what their requirements are and contributes greatly to creating business cases for submission and subsequent approval.

You’ll support the Head of FM in budget preparation & management and the Commercial Manager with RFI/RFP contract documentation preparation. Close liaison with other departments will also be essential as you ensure that project delivery does not impact on the client’s day-to-day operations and their annual showpiece event.

Review & design meetings will be managed by you and they will include the presentation of concept designs. Our client will rely on your opinions and comments on design and construction information submitted by consultants and suppliers, making sure they are compliant with all specified requirements.

You’ll carry out surveys on the condition of buildings and structures within the client’s grounds and produce detailed specifications on remedial works needed as part of a rolling maintenance programme.

Further duties and responsibilities

You’ll ensure all projects are delivered within guidelines throughout the year.

You’ll share your ideas and observations with all members of the FM team. You’ll be providing support and cover for other managers on that team too. When necessary, you’ll deputise for the Head of FM. The Head of FM will occasionally require you to undertake other duties to support the Facilities Team.

Encouraging interaction with other departments to share best practice and to provide advice will be an important and ongoing responsibility, as will working in collaboration with members of the Estates Development Team.
