Maxwell Stephens’ client, a leader student accommodation firm with its own portfolio of more than 50 buildings, is seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to join its team. You’ll be based in Sheffield but the responsibilities you’ll be in charge of will have a national impact.

Improving tenants’ experiences

Reporting to Director level, who oversees soft and hard FM services across our client’s portfolio, you’ll be part of the Central Services department working closely with other function managers on those teams.

Central Services’ job is to provide the framework and technical guidance that our client uses to guarantee consistency and efficiency in local service delivery.

It’s that framework and guidance that will determine how on-site staff do their jobs, including Accommodation Managers, Assistant Accommodation Managers, Customer Services Assistants, Maintenance Operatives, and Housekeepers.

Student internet, waste disposal, utilities, general procurement, security, cleaning, laundry, insurance, bulk purchasing strategy, and vending will come under your remit. You’ll be the lead for organising, procuring, and managing these services and the suppliers who deliver them, including the initial contracts for provision, ongoing performance monitoring, and continual customer satisfaction testing.

You’ll provide support and guidance to the accommodation teams delivering our client’s services and to the New Business Team, to whom you’ll provide technical input for proposals to manage new schemes. You’ll also strategise on the delivery across the portfolio of soft facilities management, reporting your findings back to and making suggestions to the Assistant Director of Property.

About you

You have a business/property related degree, an H&S qualification (NEBOSH/IOSH or similar), and a procurement qualification (CIPS or similar). A focused, target-driven team player, you’ll bring to our client a real drive, enthusiasm, and commitment to quality outcomes, customer service excellent, and the meeting of deadlines.

Our client will benefit from your proven track record of strategically sourcing within an organisation’s procurement department to which you have brought demonstrable savings and achievements across a diverse set of FM sub-categories. Part of this approach is an ability to write detailed specifications and prepare tender documents prior to launching a bidding process.

You have experience in being the lead negotiator for all supply-side contracts and in procuring and managing soft FM contracts and services in a multi-site environment. And it’s through that multi-site experience that you can maximise opportunities to align service contracts across the business with the goal of achieving economies of scale and consistent service delivery levels. When work is underway, you’ll be able to understand and challenge the contracts that govern them relevant to the job being performed, at the same time identifying and minimising risks during the process.

You are comfortable managing contractors and contracts with a view to making sure that all specifications are being met and delivered on time and to budget.

You’re an excellent communicator (both written and verbal) with an ability to form and maintain productive relationships. You’re very proficient with IT, especially Microsoft Excel.

Maxwell Stephens’ client is keen to fil this role as quickly as possible as their current Senior Contracts Manager is relocating overseas in September. Therefore, we strongly encourage all interested and suitably qualified applicants to apply without delay.
