Maxwell Stephens have been asked to recruit on behalf of educational establishment for a Health Safety and Environment Manager.

The role of the Health Safety and Environment Manager is to develop policy, procedure, process, measurement, reporting, and governance systems to ensure statutory and legislative obligations are fully met.



Your Role

You will ensure that all sites are safe and healthy and environmentally friendly. You will also raise awareness of good working practices, roles and responsibilities, and the need to assess and manage risks.

You will play a key role in developing a management system that meets the external standards of ISO45001 and ISO14001.

You will ensure all employees are competent and fully trained in HSE to undertake their duties as required whilst leading all HSE related communications and engagement activity across the sites.

You will control site security and lead HSE hazard identification and risk assessments. You will also provide accurate and timely reports on HSE performance.

Skills and Experience

You will a minimum of 10 years’ experience of managing health and safety, statutory compliance, building regulations and environmental topics across multi-sites.

You will have experience of managing SIA accredited security services provided by external contractors for a multi-site multi-building estate. You will also have experience of preparing budgets and prioritising multiple demands for resources from different customers.

You will have a NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent qualification. You will have CMIOSH status and experience of CDM (2015) regulations, ISO14001:2015 and ISO445001.

You will be calm under pressure, exceptionally organised and able to adapt quickly in different circumstances. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to influence a long-term improvement for Health and Safety and Environmental performance.
