Maxwell Stephens have been asked to recruit on behalf of our client for a Building Surveyor.

In this role you will aid the team manage support to the complex consisting of more than 200 buildings valued within the billions of pounds. With a  budget of £30m, you will be entirely responsible of the allocation

.

Your Role

Work with fire safety and compliance team to manage and deliver fire safety remedial works

The support fire safety compliance by managing and co-ordinate property and building remedial works arising from statuary fire risk assessments surveys:

Managing remedial works actions and monitoring that work is completed to industry and manufactures standards and to the company fire safety technical notes.

Working closely with Fire Safety and Asbestos Teams and other Estates colleagues to deliver compliant fire compartmentation

Plan, prioritise, coordinate and deliver projects/tasks; liaise closely with other Professional & Technical staff within Estates function, to ensure effective, customer focused solutions and delivery.

Manage/undertake inspections, surveys, risk assessments, feasibility studies and diagnostic fault finding and initiate appropriate actions; establish the most practical and effective resolution of problems

Manage maintenance projects ensuring compliance with specifications, cost estimates and timescales.

 

Liaise frequently with other Estates Project Managers to ensure that maintenance needs arising from new construction and major refurbishment are recognised, recorded and planned for

Drive Contractor management (Financial, Quality, Site management/safety, and Performance) taking ownership as the company client representative on project works, service delivery within role

Managers and professional/technical staff within the Engineering, Maintenance and Infrastructure team may occasionally be required to work outside core working hours to resolve unforeseen problems, attend emergency situations, maintain critical building services/conditions or to meet customers’ exceptional demand.

Skills and Experience

Proven track record in dealing fire safety building design and property maintenance.

Educated to degree status and membership of relevant professional body is desirable

Relevant professional qualification and experience

Evidence of ongoing self- development/training and CPD

Project management, contract procurement and service management in changing environment.

An understanding of passive fire protection / fire door their design and maintenance

Extensive practical experience and relevant technical knowledge including the management of maintenance operations using contractors and directly employed staff

Thorough knowledge and experience of maintenance operations in a large multi- site organisation;

Detailed practical knowledge, understanding and application of relevant Health and Safety legislation I desirable

Responding proactively and appropriately to the needs of colleagues, staff, students and partners, organising and managing your own workload
