The Estates Division is responsible for the planning, development and operation of the University’s operational and investment Estates. It employs 350 people and is responsible for capital and operational budgets in excess of £200m. The Operational Estate is one of the UK’s largest and comprises some 370 teaching, academic and research buildings with a total footprint of 723,000 square metres and an insurance value in excess of £3.4bn. The Non-Operational Estates comprises more than 1000 investment properties, including the new North West Cambridge (Eddington) keyworker housing development.
This role will see you be responsible for managing maintenance and statutory compliance performance across circa 125 teaching, academic and research buildings within their geographical hub location. Management of annual maintenance contract spend of circa £8m.
You will act as the primary day to day Client interface with the integrated maintenance contractor and other maintenance contractors and consultants for one of the three operational ‘Hubs’ (Central, West and South).
You will have the responsibility for ensuring that the terms of the contracts are complied with and that services are delivered to the required standards.
In this role you will provide commercial and contract management and administration of all maintenance contracts within the designated Hub.
You will be accountable for the performance of each contract within the designated hub, including continual monitoring of CAFM system data, KPI performance, response and rectification times and other key performance metrics.
As part of this role you will develop and implement strategies for improving the performance and value of maintenance and compliance activities.
You will work collaboratively with the Health and Safety team, Building Surveying and Programme Delivery teams as well as the Statutory Compliance Team as well as other members of the Asset Management section.
You are able to demonstrable experience of managing maintenance contracts for multiple buildings.
As well as this you have experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance and statutory compliance activities.
For this role you will need strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills which will help you with your ability to work within a team, plan and manage work activities, communicate and prioritise workloads.
For this role you will have a relevant health & Safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH)
It would be great if you had a relevant qualifications within Industry Sector, e.g. IWFM, IAM, IET and/ or an appropriate Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Engineering or Substantial vocational experience suitable for the role.
