Maxwell Stephens have been asked to recruit on behalf of the University Of Cambridge for the Senior Procurement Manager position.  This role will be working 2 days within the Cambridge Office and 3 days at home.



The role holder will manage work streams across various departments, supporting current requirements and designing, selling and implementing solutions that reduce costs and risk. Contributing to the Estate Management Strategy you will support the goal of “Creating places for people who change the world”.

The Estate Management Division is responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of the Estate. The successful candidate will be allocated to work within different parts of the division.

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Your role will require you to develop, implement and manage Procurement Strategy, Policies and procedures ensuring that the initiatives obtain value for money in an effective and efficient manner, complying with University’s Financial Regulations and Procurement Procedures.
  • You will be supporting the Head of Estate Procurement in the development of Phase 2 Procurement strategy and deliver this.
  • Your role will require you to collaborate and communicate with Procurement Services on existing and new contracts ( Regional or National) ensuring all the needs and requirements are met correctly.
  • Your role will require you to develop and maintain a range of procurement documents ensuring the consistency wit procurement policy and best practices.
  • You will be liaising with Finance Director and Cost consultants ensuring finance is available for all activities.
  • When required, you will be undertaking special projects.
  • You will be organising and attending selection panels providing formal records to support any audit trails.
  • You will be producing detailed decision reports in the placement of all major appointments, ensuring they are maintained for audit purposes.

 

About You

  • Extensive Procurement experience gained within a Construction/FM environment
  • Experience of building strong stakeholder relationships both internally with customers and externally with suppliers to enable the delivery of objectives
  • Excellent Literacy and Numeracy skills
  • Managing Procurement Projects
  • Organisational skills, ability to plan, coordinate and close down a project to meet the objectives and timescales.
  • Strong analytical ability must be able to analyse data and create presentations.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and qualified to level 4 or above with ethics module
  • Have a Bachelors degree or equivalent
