The Opportunity

Maxwell Stephens is recruiting an Engineering Supervisor for a significant, well-established mechanical and electrical services contractor with a growing FM division. The client is not named in this advert at this stage. Its identity will be confirmed to candidates who progress beyond an initial Teams conversation with us.

You will lead the resident engineering team on site. You will be the hands-on technical lead and the face of the business to the client’s building management team. The role suits a mechanical or an electrical bias. What matters most is sound engineering, strong supervision and calm client handling.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Supervise, allocate and check the work of two engineers, and step in hands-on when needed
  • Deliver PPM and reactive work to programme and SLA through the CAFM system
  • Diagnose and fix faults across HVAC, plant, controls and electrical systems
  • Control permits to work, isolations and lock-out procedures
  • Review RAMS and supervise specialist subcontractors, including fire, water, lifts and gas
  • Keep statutory records complete and current, including F-gas, water hygiene, electrical and fire
  • Deliver toolbox talks and keep the team’s competence and authorisations current
  • Act as the day-to-day contact for the client’s building management team
  • Raise lifecycle and remedial recommendations, and prepare quotes for additional works
About You

Essential:

  • A time-served mechanical or electrical engineer, qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Supervisory or senior engineer experience in commercial building services
  • 18th Edition (electrical) or F-gas (mechanical)
  • Working knowledge of SFG20, permits to work and statutory compliance
  • Confident using CAFM for PPM and reactive work
  • Polished and confident when dealing with clients

Desirable:

  • An HNC or HND in building services engineering
  • SSSTS or SMSTS, and IOSH
  • Authorised Person status (LV or water)
  • BMS experience
Why This Role
  • Lead your own resident team for a significant client
  • A growing FM division with real progression as it expands
  • A strong salary for a supervisory role
