The Opportunity

Maxwell Stephens is recruiting a Head of Facilities Management for a major, well-known corporate group headquartered in Central London. The client is not named in this advert. Its identity will be shared with candidates who progress beyond an initial conversation with us.

This is a senior, visible role leading the internal facilities function across a prestigious corporate headquarters. You will own estate management and statutory compliance, lead and develop an established facilities team, and act as the trusted point of contact for senior stakeholders. A major focus will be spearheading a high-profile, end-to-end office refurbishment, shaping a workspace that supports the business as it evolves.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Building Operations, you will have real influence and genuine scope to leave your mark. You will combine strategic thinking with strong people leadership, and you will be equally comfortable in a boardroom update and on site with a contractor.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Guide, mentor and develop the internal facilities team, setting clear KPIs and professional development pathways
  • Lead by example, promoting a proactive customer-service mindset across all workplace management functions
  • Act as internal lead on the office redesign and refurbishment, working with architects, designers and project managers
  • Manage the project budget, timeline and transition planning to minimise disruption to daily operations
  • Deliver clear, data-driven updates on strategy, milestones and budgets to senior stakeholders
  • Manage hard and soft FM sub-contractors, including MEP, cleaning, security and catering, ensuring strict adherence to SLAs, value for money and service quality
  • Lead tenders and negotiate commercial contracts
  • Ensure full statutory compliance across the estate, including UK building, health and safety and environmental regulations
  • Maintain asset registers, PPM schedules, risk assessments and business continuity plans
  • Oversee fire safety, first aid provisions and emergency evacuation procedures
About You

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Head of Facilities, Facilities Director or Senior Facilities Manager, ideally in a dynamic corporate or commercial environment
  • A track record of leading large-scale office relocation or refurbishment projects from inception to completion
  • Strong people leadership, with experience managing, mentoring and upskilling facilities teams
  • Deep knowledge of UK building regulations, statutory compliance and health and safety legislation
  • Confident, commercially minded and comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders

Desirable:

  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
Why This Role
  • A senior, high-profile position at a prestigious Central London headquarters
  • The chance to lead a major office refurbishment from start to finish
  • A strong salary of £80,000 – £100,000, depending on experience, plus a corporate package
  • Excellent career opportunities within a large corporate group
