Interim Senior Operations Manager (Estates) (Ref:007021)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estates professional to join a complex and highly technical estate environment on an interim basis.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for the operational management of a multi-building estate, overseeing engineering maintenance, facilities services, compliance, capital projects, contractor performance and estate strategy.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the estate remains safe, compliant, efficient and fully operational whilst supporting a diverse range of stakeholders and occupiers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operation of buildings, infrastructure and estate services
  • Manage outsourced hard and soft FM contracts, ensuring delivery against agreed KPIs and SLAs
  • Oversee engineering maintenance, technical services and statutory compliance programmes
  • Manage annual operational and capital expenditure budgets
  • Deliver capital projects from concept through to completion
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across estate operations
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Lead contractor management, procurement activities and tender processes
  • Support sustainability, energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders across the estate
  • Lead responses to major incidents and support business continuity planning
About You

You will be an experienced Estates, Facilities or Technical Services leader with a strong background managing complex operational environments.

Applicants should possess:

  • HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar technical discipline)
  • NEBOSH and/or IOSH qualification
  • Significant experience managing outsourced FM contracts
  • Strong knowledge of building services, engineering maintenance and statutory compliance
  • Experience managing substantial operational budgets and capital projects
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and contractor management experience

Experience gained within science parks, research facilities, laboratories, healthcare, higher education, pharmaceutical or other technically complex environments would be highly advantageous.
