The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Senior Facilities Manager to lead facilities management and statutory compliance across a multi-site estate.

This is a varied role combining strategic estate planning with hands-on operational management. You will lead facilities operations at one site, while providing professional support and oversight at another, ensuring buildings are safe, compliant and maintained to a high standard.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will help shape the estates strategy, drive continuous improvement and ensure facilities services support the wider organisation.

The Role

• Lead day-to-day facilities and estates management across the sites, ensuring buildings, grounds and infrastructure are safe, secure and well maintained.

• Take responsibility for statutory compliance, including fire safety, asbestos, legionella, gas, electrical safety and other essential inspections.

• Develop and oversee planned preventative maintenance programmes, alongside reactive maintenance and emergency repairs.

• Manage cleaning, grounds maintenance, security, waste management and other facilities services.

• Provide advice and guidance to senior leaders on estates, compliance and health and safety matters.

• Support long-term estate planning, capital investment priorities and the delivery of maintenance projects.

• Manage contractors and service providers, including procurement, quotations, RAMS, performance and value for money.

• Monitor facilities budgets, expenditure and financial reporting.

• Lead and develop the facilities team, supporting performance, training and professional development.

• Maintain a positive health and safety culture, undertaking inspections, audits and incident investigations.

• Contribute to business continuity and emergency planning arrangements.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Facilities or Estates Manager with a strong understanding of statutory compliance and building maintenance.

You will have:

• Significant experience in facilities, estates or property management.

• Experience managing statutory compliance programmes and planned preventative maintenance.

• Experience managing contractors, budgets and procurement activities.

• A background in leading, developing and supporting facilities teams.

• A good understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.

• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.

• The ability to manage competing priorities and respond calmly to emergencies.

• A professional, approachable and flexible attitude, with a commitment to high standards and continuous improvement.

Experience within education, the public sector or a multi-site environment would be beneficial.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Level 3 Health & Safety qualification.

• GCSE English and Mathematics, or equivalent.

• IOSH Managing Safely, or willingness to obtain the qualification.

• First Aid at Work qualification.

Membership of IWFM, a NEBOSH Fire Certificate, Asbestos Duty Holder Training and Legionella Responsible Person Training would also be beneficial.

This role involves working in an environment where safeguarding is a priority. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check, including a barred list check where appropriate, and comply with relevant safeguarding and child protection procedures.
