EMEA Health, Safety & Security Manager (Events)
Back to Vacancies ListThis role is designed to ensure a global events company establishes and maintains a high level of health, safety and security at each event and conference it organises in the Europe region to a standard that meets local and international requirements and company internal policies and to be the Group’s travel health, safety and security advisor.
Key Dimensions
General
- Oversee and maintain health and safety standards and systems to a high standard to meet local and international requirements and company internal policies
- Ensure health and safety best practice is promoted, adopted and adhered to at all events and conferences
- Create health and safety plans for specific events as and when required
- Approve the usage of any other event contractors/service providers
- Advise on contractor selection and management
- Keep abreast of changes to H&S and Security legislation in the Europe Region and ensure effective and timely adoption thereof
- Provide support to other regions as required
- Research health and safety standards and advise on relevant risks
- Provide or source through procurement technical expertise and support for senior management and for operational teams responsible for organising and running events and conferences
- Perform a sample of annual on-site visits to review event health and safety procedures and arrangements
- Liaise with the K&N procurement team to ensure appropriate suppliers of HS&S services have appropriate credentials
- Liaise with European HS&S legislative bodies and emergency services, as required, to agree and set clear escalation procedures and ensure alignment with our health and safety management system
Compliance
- Co-ordinate and work with internal and external auditors
- Prepare divisional health and safety report on a monthly basis to the Head of Group Health, Safety and Security and a quarterly report to the Group Risk Committee
KPI Reporting
- Collect and collate health and safety data for incidents and near misses
- Record leading and lagging indicators of health & safety risks
- Analyse accident and near miss data to build prevention programs to continuously improve health and safety at our events
Learning and Training
- Inculcate and promote a strong health and safety culture within our organisation
- Identify and address learning and training needs
- Create annual training programme
- Schedule external and internal training providers
- Conduct some training courses
Minimum Education Level:
- Relevant health & safety experience
- EHS qualifications to at least NVQ5 / NEBOSH Diploma level;
- Graduate Member of IOSH
Background Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Essential
- Minimum of 5 years’ health and safety experience in Europe;
- Demonstrable in-depth and up to date knowledge and understanding of essential/relevant EHS legislation
- Strong understanding of risk based health and safety management systems
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
- Willingness to do extensive international travel
- Flexible and willing to adapt to changing situations
- Detail oriented
- Confidence to work effectively with senior management and colleagues at all levels
- Team player with a strong focus on communication and service delivery
Desirable
- A good knowledge and understanding of the exhibitions and events business
- Previous experience with managing travel health and safety
