Our client has asked Maxwell Stephens to provide its expertise in finding an ambitious and highly experienced Engineering Services Manager for their properties reporting to the Technical Services Manager
After working in a managing role within multi-discipline environment for over three years, you’re a skilled hand at all hard and soft services. Your knowledge and abilities range from service desk functions all the way to HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical controls.
A natural born leader, you can provide your team with the direction and motivation they need in day-to-day operations and challenging situations. You’ll inspire them to strive for excellence in their service; delivering above and beyond client expectations. You’ll help them to develop their skillsets and work to achieve both their personal and operational targets.
Making sure your clients, colleagues and the business are protected, you’re a firm advocate of good health and safety practices. You’re up to date on all current legislation and have experience in managing safe working practices as well as statutory compliance.
Highly organised, you always plan ahead to ensure your projects are executed perfectly. You thrive under pressure and always hit your deadlines. With considerable experience in managing technical incidents right through to resolution, you’re able to keep a level head in stressful situations.
Holding a relevant professional qualification, such as Eng.Tech or I.Eng, and a valid IOSH Managing Safely qualification, you’ve flourished as HV/AP or SAP in the past and you’re eager to bring your unique skillset to the team.
You have worked with Building Management Systems and PPM management systems. Having also managed a permit to process, you may also hold a Higher National Certificate/Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Service Engineering.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As a highly personable manager, you’re able to use tact and diplomacy to ensure effective communications between your team and key stakeholders every day. You’ll also build strong working relationships with our client’s occupiers in order to uphold the company reputation and deliver a world-class service.
In this role, you’ll be managing a highly skilled team of senior technicians, technicians and specialist contractors. Overseeing all aspects of planned and reactive maintenance, you’ll make sure they work within or beyond HVAC SFG20/CIBSE guidelines.
Day-to-day, you’ll oversee all staff performance and conduct, ensuring a professional and productive service. You’ll be a mentor, passing on your industry skills and knowledge to your team members. Ensuring they’re suitably trained and regularly drilled on safe and proper operations, you’ll guide their learning and development and instil a ‘safety first’ culture.
You’ll also be responsible for proactively managing all third-party contractors; working to build strong relationships and establish effective coordination and compliance between departments.
The normal nine-to-five has never really appealed to you – you’re ready to jump into the action whenever necessary; responding to emergencies and taking on a variety of other duties.
The health and safety of everybody within our client’s properties will be in your hands. You’ll ensure employees’ compliance at all times and make sure they are all aware of H&S policies and practices.
Keeping full and accurate records of all works completed, you’ll be providing monthly financial reports on the cost of maintenance and operations to the Technical Services Manager. Getting quotes and purchase orders for repairs and small projects, you’ll also place orders and process payments quickly and accurately in line with the company’s policies.
You’ll be responsible for identifying, planning and coordinating all maintenance activities within the property. Acting as an Authorised Person for M&E services and organising the maintenance team and supply chain, you’ll make sure all objectives and annual planned maintenance is carried out.
You’ll need to maintain clear records for all operations, PPM schedules, reactive and emergency maintenance, and all other engineering and buildings related works. You’ll also produce your own operational and managerial reports.
Ensuring statutory compliance is maintained, you’ll also make sure your team follow the company’s permit to work processes at all times and carry out regular spot checks of works.
It’ll be up to you to ensure all aspects of health and safety are maintained in line with site and task specific risk assessments. You’ll also carry out regular quality audits of maintenance standards.
