Maxwell Stephens are delighted to be recruiting for our client for the role of Head of Fire, Health and Safety. You will be joining a team of highly skilled property professionals who are responsible for the maintenance of one of the most prestigious estates in the UK.

Many of the buildings that you were be required to look after are Grade 1 listed.

As part of this role you will lead the fire and health and safety teams to provide a strategic and reactive service, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in order to prevent harm to employees, visitors and contractors.

About You

For this role you ideally have one of the following:

  • An accredited degree or diploma in occupational health and safety (or a related discipline)
  • Or, a NEBOSH Diploma
  • Or, a Level 4 of the Vocational Qualifications for Occupational Health and Safety Practice.

You have professional experience gained at a senior level.

This has lead you to have excellent people management skills which enable you to build great relationships with stakeholders and teams alike.

You are self-manged, problem solver with a passion for customer-driven approach to delivering services.

Your Responsibilities

In this role the key responsibility will be to develop an overall strategy of continuous improvement for Fire, Health and Safety management.

This will see you provide strategic leadership for the team to ensure that the health and safety agenda is provided as well as the fire one. This includes ensuring the implementation of risk assessments and guidance as we navigate through Covid.

A key part of this role will be to ensure that individuals in both the H&S team and Fire team are reaching performance standards and addressing any areas of development needed.

You will prepare and mange the annual budget, with an emphasis on value for money.

This role is key in ensuring that all relevant statutory compliance and legislative requirements are met across all areas, while using people skills to promote a culture of continual risk awareness and management.
