Maxwell Stephens have been asked to recruit on behalf of the client for a Building Services Engineer

In this role you will aid the team manage support to the complex consisting of more than 200 buildings valued within the billions of pounds. With a  budget of £30m, you will be entirely responsible of the allocation

Your Responsibilities

Act as focal point on maintenance issues for schools/departments across the company portfolio as required.

Lead the preparation, prioritisation, co-ordination and delivery of assigned projects and programmes, including:- Planned works, Long Term Maintenance, one-off projects and business improvement work-streams

Respond as necessary to identify and manage the resolution of reported breakdowns, faults and problems

Responsible for allocated budget for repairs and breakdowns.

Plan, prioritise, coordinate and deliver projects/tasks; liaise closely with other Professional & Technical staff within Estates to ensure coordinated, effective, customer focused solutions and delivery.

Manage/undertake inspections, surveys, risk assessments, feasibility studies and diagnostic fault finding and initiate appropriate actions; establish the most practical and effective resolution of problems.

Manage maintenance projects ensuring compliance with specifications, cost estimates and timescales.


Manage delegated budgets for assigned programmes and service provisions.

Contribute positively to CI&O’s collective approach to managing the effective procurement and performance of service providers, including service standards, costs, health & safety.

Managers and professional/technical staff within the Campus Infrastructure & Experience team may occasionally be required to work outside core working hours to resolve unforeseen problems, attend emergency situations, and maintain critical building services/conditions or to meet customers’ exceptional demands.

About You

Extensive practical experience and relevant mechanical technical knowledge (incl. HWS, Gas, Pressure Systems) including the management of maintenance operations using contractors ad directly employed staff; Thorough knowledge and experience of maintenance operations in a large multi- site organisation

A good general education with sound literacy and numeracy skills

Demonstrable success in developing and managing relationships with support functions, stakeholders and third party suppliers

Strong administrative writing, reporting, presenting and interpersonal skills.

Advanced oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated skills in researching, gathering, and preparing documents and presentations.

Results-focused with the ability to work at pace whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to demonstrate an objective, professional and calm approach when handling difficult situation.
