Maxwell Stephens have been asked to recruit on behalf of a trust foundation for a Head of Facilities & Estates.

The Head of Facilities & Estates will Plan, direct and monitor the activities and operations of all facilities and services provision including grounds maintenance, buildings services management systems, new build construction, repairs, maintenance and renovation

Your Role

  • Support the Co-CEO (Operations) in delivery on strategic vision and leadership to all aspects of premises;
  • Create, lead, operate, maintain and develop systems. In collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team and Trust Board, ensuring that health and safety requirements with regard to property and function of schools within Pioneer are maintained;
  • Alongside the Co-CEO, ensure meets its statutory obligations with regard to Health & Safety, ensuring all staff are suitably trained in H&S responsibilities;
  • Either directly, or non-directly through the Premise Support postholder, monitor the effectiveness and management of cleaning (both in-house and outsources, where relevant);
  • Ensure Health & Safety policies and management arrangements are current and reflect actual working practice, are implemented and are reviewed annually;
  • Ensure that risk assessments have been complete and implemented appropriate to the activity. Maintain a risk register and review risk assessments at least annually
  • Ensure that existing contracts are carried out in accordance with their specifications, and take effective action when they fall short of such specifications
  • Advise the Co-CEO regarding specifications and contracts;
  • Work with the Co-CEO on compiling and implanting a Premises Development Plan, including energy conservation
  • Provide a working knowledge of basic legislation, including H&S, as it applies to Premises

 

Skills and Experience

  • Studied to a minimum standard of GCSE (grade A*-C) or equivalent, in English and Maths (certificate/s to be available at interview)
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment and leading staff
  • Recognised facilities management qualification
  • Recognised H & S qualification or willingness to gain one (NEBOSH level or equivalent)
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding school/departmental roles and responsibilities including own and to network effectively
  • Verbal and written communication skills appropriate to the need to communicate effectively with colleagues, students and other stakeholders
  • Ability to build effective working relationships all stakeholders; staff, senior leaders, governors, Trust Board
  • Ability to plan, monitor and priortise own and team workloads
