Maxwell Stephens have been asked to recruit on behalf of the client for the Head of Facilities in London.

The successful candidate will be responsible for Maintenance staff, porters and Catering staff and report to Director of Finance and Resources.

Purpose of this post

The role will require you to ensure all buildings, equipment, transport and plant work efficiently and meet the required standards of the organization fulfilling all statutory and regulatory obligations.

The successful candidate will develop departmental systems and processes to ensure the services delivered are proactive, on time and continually improving.

Alongside the Health and Safety consultant, be able tot ensure that the internal and external environments are safe and all relevant risk management activities are completed to the required standards.

About the role

You will be required to act as a Health & Safety Manager, you will need to ensure that all staff are aware of their Health and Safety responsibilities; to induct senior ward and manage staff in all required health, safety and fire policies and procedures.

Your role will be to liaise with Environmental Health Inspectors, Fire Brigades and other outside organizations where appropriate. Ensuring all fire equipment is services and maintained within the relevant regulations.

You will need to manage all expenditure in accordance to the agreed budgets and maintain all financial regulations.

Your role will require you to manage the activity of facilities services and staff by the effective planning, prioritization and allocation of all appropriate resources. This will include maintenance and security.


You will be required to provide an on call 24 hour cover basis to the client to ensure the environment and all facilities are maintained to the highest of standards. As well as managing all help desk requests for emergency repairs, ensuring they are acknowledged and actioned within the correct time frame.

You need to be fully aware of the confidential nature of the work that occurs within the role and be aware of the requirements of the Data Protection Act and following appropriate action to safeguard confidential information

Your role will require you to ensure that the CAD plans are kept up to date using external providers.

The role will require you to implement a personal development programme to ensure maintenance and enhancement of relevant professional skills and expertise for all staff.

The successful candidate will need to line manage the catering manager and ensure that all catering staff receive the appropriate support and training within food hygiene. Ensuring catering meets all regulatory requirements, HACCP and food hygiene audits are reviewed on a regular basis.
