Maxwell Stephens have been asked to recruit on behalf of the client for the role Associate Director of Estates & Facilities in London.

The role is crucial to providing a safe and compliant environment.

About the role

  • You will be taking responsibility and be accountable for the design, safety, quality, technical suitability and statutory compliance with the relevant Government guidelines.
  • You will be responsible for the service planning and execution for all services.
  • Your role will require you to take responsibility for strategy and policy development related to the engineering services, this would include the implementation of Legislative requirements and the risk management arrangements
  • You will take responsibility for environmental conditions and ensure that they are safe for external clients and staff.
  • You will be required to manage facilities and infrastructure resources through contractors and service agreements alongside the Principal Engineer.
  • Your role will require you to manage significant facilities and infrastructure resources through the contracts and service agreements
  • Your role will allow you to manage staff, systems, process and controls to ensure accountability, probity and compliance within the external legislation and internal Governance
  • You will support heads of service and operational managers within the human resources aspect.
  • You will be required to give advice and guidance on estate engineering and maintenance services.
  • Your role will require you to support all Building, engineering and Maintenance team leads to manage their budgets


About You

  • Degree in Building Service Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent specialist experience at senior engineering level in a complex engineering environment
  • Master degree or equivalent specialist knowledge in engineering
  • Significant experience operating at head of service/associate Director level
  • Proven contract and project management experience
  • Effective communication, presentational and reporting skills
  • Positively managing staff including performance and personal development
  • Highly developed technical/ knowledge and appreciation of estates & facilities services
  • Experience of multi-agency partnership working
  • Experience of CAD design systems
  • Management of non-skilled, skilled and professional staff
  • Financial management and analytical abilities
  • Maintenance and project planning
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information
  • Capable of making executive decisions and taking responsibility for those decisions.
