Maxwell Stephens have been assigned by an iconic London venue to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to join their team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Monitor and repair site wide mechanical systems proactively supporting the delivery of the pre-planned maintenance (PPM) programme, and reacting to issues as and when they arise. Systems include:
  • Pumps / motors
  • Distribution boards and electrical systems
  • Air handling units
  • Water treatments including chilled water
  • Generator sets
  1. Devise and install appropriate and cost effective solutions / modifications to help improve safety and reliability across site. Tasks may include:
  • Measuring up
  • Sourcing materials
  • Fitting materials
  • Repairing existing systems
  • Proposing improvements and modification

 

 

Working as part of the Facilities team, the Mechanical Engineer will install and maintain mechanical systems across the site.

  1. Assist with the operation of the building during live events by resolving any urgent mechanical / engineering challenges that arise in a timely manner supporting business continuity.
  2. Liaise with contractors coming on site supporting their induction and ensuring tasks are completed on time and in a safe manner
  3. Support the Facilities and Engineering Team as and when required upholding an effective service to all stakeholders.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • BTEC NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance – Mechanical or Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance and Installation

Desirable

  • Membership of a professional body i.e. IET, IEEE or IMechE
  • City and Guilds level 3 Award in the Requirement of Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 or equivalent
  • CIEH level 2 Award Health and Safety in the workplace
  • IOSH qualification
  • City and Guilds Level 2 Welding certificate or equivalent
  • British Safety Council Level 2 Award in risk assessment or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • Experience working in a challenging environment
  • Experience working with contractors across a number of areas or multiple sites
  • Experience working with multiple systems / PPM works
  • Experience devising and installing solutions to mechanical problems

Desirable

  • Experience working in a multi-purpose venue
  • Experience of monitoring / supervising mechanical and electrical systems during large live events i.e. television broadcasts, festivals, exhibitions etc.
  • Knowledge of building electrical engineering services

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of building schematics and electrical systems drawings
  • Knowledge of single and 3 phase systems
  • Strong understanding of health and safety principles
  • Ability to use appropriate judgement to find timely solutions
  • Team player
  • Good verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Good time management
  • Occasional overtime may be required and this will be paid.

Desirable

  • IPAF license
