Maxwell Stephens and Principal Place

Background

Principal place is a new building development based in Shoreditch in Central London. Developed by Brookfield, this mixed-use development includes a 600,000 sq ft, 15 storey office building with nearly an acre of roof terraces which acts as Amazon’s new HQ; numerous restaurants, shops and a boutique gym as well as a 50 storey residential building due for completion in 2019.

Brookfield approached Maxwell Stephens to support in the recruitment of an Operations Manager for this exciting new development.

The Position

The Operations Manager would be responsible for providing all aspects of the day-to-day management and first class service delivery of cleaning, security, reception, landscaping, help-desk, IT, telephone and administration services. With responsibility for providing a customer-focused service, the Operations Manager would ensure consistent, high-quality delivery to the occupiers through a strategic and innovative approach to engaging with both operational teams as well as occupiers.

This position would require the post holder to work closely with the heads of department to make sure all teams are fully trained and given the best coaching and development possible. The Operations Manager would lead by example with a hands-on visibility within the property. Working with the management team and the General Manager, this position would also heavily contribute to the development and implementation of strategies, policies and practices.

Other duties and responsibilities of this included but were not limited to: leading occupier moves from a soft services perspective; ensuring all contracts are reviewed at specified periods and undertake full tender activity where necessary; ensuring property Health and Safety compliance and to prepare, set, assess and monitor service budgets in consultation with the General Manager.

The Candidate

The successful candidate for this position would represent the Company as a high-profile Manager therefore personal attributes were a key consideration when carrying out this recruitment campaign. With excellent communication skills both written and verbal, the post holder would have the ability to present to a wide range of audiences. They would also need to have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders, requiring an individual with strong interpersonal capabilities.
