Caretaker
Back to Vacancies ListMaxwell Stephens has been asked by the client to find a proactive and reliable caretaker who has sound knowledge of security requirements as well as health and safety in the education setting where the safeguarding of young people is paramount.
You will be part of the maintenance team and will be the first point of call for providing security, undertaking day to day maintenance, this includes carrying our inspections and cleaning duties across the site.
As the caretaker you would be required to live-in. A one bedroom flat is provided with some bills included.
About You
You will have GSCE’s or equivalent and desirably you will have a drivers licence.
You will be able to demonstrate a wealth of practical skills that will enable you to contribute to improving the site and buildings, with your ability to plan and priorities tasks under pressure will mean you will meet deadlines with ease.
As well as this you have a great understanding of health and safety which includes safely working with chemicals, plant and machinery. You will be self-motivated and secure working alone.
Your Responsibilities
As your role as caretaker you will be the registered keyholder, who will be responsible for unsetting and setting the alarms and unlocking all the buildings at 6:30am. You will physically check the premises once during daylight and once in the dark to ensure security is not compromised and be responsible for monitoring the CCTV systems.
As part of the role you will ensure all areas are clear of litter and clitter and will carry out cleaning duties around the buildings as required. You will check for damage to property and ensure that fire escapes are clear at all times.
This role will require some flexibility and the list of your responsibilities that you will have is not exhaustive and will change depending on circumstances. Any other work that is requested needs to be deemed appropriate by the Director of Operations and agreed to by you.
Other duties may include:
- Keeping paths free of snow and ice
- Monitoring the work of contractors onsite
- Ordering clean equipment
- Polishing of the vinyl floors as required
You will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and the DBS.
