Maxwell Stephens have been asked to recruit on behalf of an educational facility for a Facilities Assistant role.

The Facilities Assistant will ensure the smooth day to day running of the Facilities function within the establishment.

Your Role

You will walk the buildings and grounds frequently, ensuring that all indoor and outdoor areas are clean, tidy and free of litter. All tasks identified that can’t be undertaken on the spot must be immediately logged on the actions database and followed through.

You will act as a key holder for the premises and operate the security system.

You will attend health and safety training courses as necessary and ensure that the training and learning is put into practice in day to day activities. You will support the orderly evacuation of the building in the event of a fire or other emergency.

You will proactively identify and undertake small repairs and maintenance tasks. You will be familiar with the induction and permit to work processes for contractors and ensure they are followed and adhered to when contractors arrive, work on and leave site.

You will be responsible for receiving deliveries onto the premises, ensuring their condition is checked and signed for appropriately. You will also provide a portering and delivery service for staff and assist with office moves and changes at sites, where required.

Skills and Experience

You will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. You will have the ability to prioritise different tasks and have the ability to work effectively in a team.

You will the knowledge and understanding of the importance of customer care with the ability to remain calm in challenging or emergency situations.

You will have a full First Aid at Work qualification or be willing to obtain one. You will also have a basic level qualification in a building trade or be willing to obtain one.

You will have experience of working in a Facilities Service Team and carrying out minor repairs and maintenance tasks in a variety of places using a variety of tools.
