Role Purpose

  • To lead and manage HSSE compliance within the company and the ongoing maintenance of our client’s safety and environmental management systems in accordance with the requirements of OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001
  • To develop and implement an appropriate HSSE internal audit programme with monthly reporting with analysis and recommendations
  • Management responsibility for the delivery of all services provided by our client’s outsourced HSSE consultants, ensuring full compliance with statutory, contracted and our client’s company standards
  • Co-ordinate and manage the process for Public Liability claims along with related remedial actions identified


  • To create, manage and implement management controls to ensure that the company are fully compliant with applicable statutory regulations and corporate procedures and standards
  • Production and analysis of reports and dashboards covering HSSE Statutory Compliance data across the Property Management business.  Using this analysis, assist senior management to complete monthly audit telephone calls to FM operatives in order to address non-compliance issues.  Follow up actions from these meetings until appropriate action has been taken.
  • Production and analysis of reports and dashboards for other purposes, on request of senior management, such as may be required for a specific client or site
  • Prepare as necessary, attend and assist senior management on random site visits, known as ‘U-Walks’, where management will walk the building and meet staff, gaining an overview of the HSSE management at the site.  Action any non-compliance issues or training requirements identified,
  • Working with the EMEA HSSE team, co-ordinate and manage the process for Public Liability and Employee Liability claims.  Take appropriate action to address issues identified and recommend changes needed as a result of the incident, to avoid a reoccurrence
  • Ensure all HSSE records and IT systems are maintained and hold data that is complete, accurate and up to date with supporting documentation.  Able to demonstrate compliance or identify non-compliance in a timely manner
  • Manage external HSSE consultancies including
  • Agreeing and documenting objectives for the next review period
  • Attending monthly meetings with consultants to discuss progress against objectives, contract compliance, current challenges and new legislation
  • Maintaining schedules of planned and completed actions including
  • H&S site inspections
  • Staff training
  • Risk Assessments
  • Audits
  • Reporting
  • Approval of monthly consultant’s invoices, checking against contracted rates and actions planned for the invoice period
  • Ensure full compliance with scope and contract
  • Working with the EMEA HSSE team, develop and review appropriate objectives, targets and improvement programmes relating to safety, the environment and public liability claims management
  • Manage and develop, with the appointed consultant, appropriate training programmes, methods of delivery and evaluate effectiveness to ensure employees are competent with regard to their Health and Safety duties
  • Undertake risk assessments and audits of Property Management employee activities
  • Working with the EMEA HSSE team, develop and maintain appropriate QMS processes and procedures for the management of HSSE risks within Property Management including across all managed sites
  • Provide support and technical advice to all Property Management staff including the National Operations Director to enable them to undertake their roles and responsibilities for health, safety and the environment   – Working with the EMEA HSSE team, monitor changes in legislation and best practice to ensure continuing legal compliance and best practice in the UK.  Identify and manage any resultant changes to policy, procedures or processes that may be required as a result
  • Working with the EMEA HSSE team, assist with the management of incidents and investigations of serious incidents and accidents that address incident circumstances, incident causation and consider improvements that could be made for the future
  • Liaise with external enforcement bodies and insurers as required
  • Production of standard HSSE reporting
  • HSSE technical input to tender enquiries and proposals


  • NEBOSH certificate as a minimum
  • Willingness to continue with higher level HSSE qualification

Knowledge & Experience


  • Worked in HSSE role for a minimum of 3 years or HSSE graduate
  • Intermediate to high skill levels in all Microsoft Office packages


  • Experience of managing multisite UK portfolio for Property Management Company
  • Full clean UK drivers licence
